The official processing time for Vietnam e-visas is 3 working days, but “official” and “reality” don’t always match up. During my travels, I’ve seen approvals come through in 24 hours during quiet periods and stretch to 5-6 days during peak tourist season. Understanding these patterns helps you plan better.
Peak seasons that slow processing include the weeks around Tet (January/February), summer months when European and American travelers flood in, and the December holiday period. During these times, the sheer volume of applications can push processing times beyond the standard window.
My personal strategy is to always apply earlier than I think I need to. There’s no penalty for having your visa approved weeks before your trip, but there’s definitely stress if you’re cutting it close. During peak season, I aim for at least 2 weeks advance application time.
