When I retired, I promised myself that the travelling would begin. First destination: Vietnam. Some acquaintances thought it wasn’t wise to go alone, but I wanted to try.

The online visa application was not difficult. My son helped a little, but I did most of it myself. Four days and the confirmation arrived. I printed it out and took it with me.

I was in Vietnam for six weeks. Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, Saigon. Everywhere, people were helpful. I didn’t know the language, but pointing and smiling worked. The food was healthy and cheap. I will definitely come back.
